NEW PLACE TO PLAY IN TOWN

NEW PLACE TO PLAY IN TOWN

Gaming will have a new home, as part of a transformation of Civic Video at The Precinct into Gaming at InfamousGeek.

The gaming gurus are currently operating The Infamous Geek at Castletown Shopping Centre, but this new store will be a totally different offering.

Owner Joe McGhie said along with different products, the new store will be more interactive and will bring a fresh approach to the expanding gaming community in Townsville.

“We have trialled some trading card games in our existing store and the success of this has given us the confidence to officially launch our new store”, he said.

Mr McGhie said through careful consultation with many of our customers, we believe that there is a need for somewhere that caters to this growing trend.

Gaming at the InfamousGeek, which sets to officially open in February at The Precinct, will be one of few places in Townsville to purchase a range of Trading Card Games, Board Games, Table Top games and associated accessories. It will also double as a playing area, with a room full of tables for groups to gather around.

“The surge in popularity of Tabletop gaming might be linked to the fact that it requires face-to- face social interaction and a relatively analogue style of playing.

“Although we host many experienced players our “Learn to Play” days have seen a growth in the number of younger players often accompanied by equally interested parents.

“Last Sunday we launched our pre-release Tournament for the new set for Magic The Gathering” smiled Mr McGhie.

Gaming at InfamousGeek will be located at The Precinct, 12-18 Village Drive in Idalia.
